Google is building a home base for your Business Profile, run on Gemini
Google Business Home, a closed beta in the US and UK, puts your Business Profile, Ads, Merchant Center and YouTube in one place with AI suggestions on top. Two more profile changes are only tests. Here is what is real, and how to treat the advice it gives you.

Picture a dental office owner on a Tuesday night. The Business Profile is in one tab, Google Ads in another, a YouTube channel nobody has touched since spring in a third. Each one has its own login, its own numbers and its own idea of what to do next.
Google wants to put all of that on one screen and have its AI tell you what to do. This week it showed what that looks like, and it is worth understanding before the invitation lands in your inbox.
What happened
Search Engine Roundtable reported on October 22 that Google is rolling out Google Business Home, a new home for Business Profiles. Google's own help page, "About the Business Home beta," calls it "a growth partner built with Gemini models" and says it is "currently a closed beta experience, available only to select business categories in the US and the UK."
So this is a beta, by invitation, for some kinds of businesses in two countries. It is not something you can switch on today.
Here is what Google's help page says it does now:
- Connects Google Ads, Business Profile, Merchant Center and YouTube. "You can link a maximum of one YouTube channel, one Google Ads account, and one Merchant Center account."
- Creates content with AI writing and photo tools, which Google says you use "while retaining full creative control."
- Lets you "Update your hours, respond to customer reviews, and more, all within Business Home."
- Gives what Google calls "a 360° view of your business" that turns your data into prioritized steps.
- Sets up "AI-powered messaging with RCS for Business so that customers with questions can easily get answers."
And what it says comes later: "Over time, Business Home will provide holistic insights and the next best step across all connected services." Its example: "it detects real-time demand surges and helps you publish seasonal offers across social media."
The fine print matters. To qualify, the help page says, "You must be the owner or manager of a verified Google Business Profile with fewer than 10 locations for the same business." Accounts that manage several different businesses are not supported yet. Eligible businesses get an email invitation.
Two more profile changes surfaced this week. Both are tests that Google has not confirmed:
- New performance reports. Search Engine Roundtable reported on October 23 that Google is testing a rebuilt performance section with an overview that includes recommendations, plus engagement, reviews, audience and search trends. The editor said he does not see it yet himself. Two people sent screenshots.
- Verifying with a government ID. Search Engine Roundtable reported on October 20 that some owners saw a prompt to "Upload a photo of your government ID" to verify a profile, next to the usual phone, email, video and mail options. The prompt says the ID "won't be shown publicly." Google's help docs do not list it.

Closed beta (Google's help page)
Google Business Home. Invitation only, select categories, US and UK, verified profiles with fewer than 10 locations. Google has a help page for it.
Unconfirmed tests (as reported)
New performance reports with recommendations, and verifying a profile with a government ID. Spotted by users and reported by Search Engine Roundtable. Google has not announced either.
What it means for your business
Your Business Profile started as a listing. A name, a pin on the map, hours, a phone number. Google is now turning it into a marketing dashboard, with AI suggesting posts, offers and next steps across your ads and video too.
That is useful. A salon owner who never posts might start. A plumber might finally notice a spike in searches and act on it.
But look at who is giving the advice. The same company that sells you the ads is now telling you what to do next, across your ads and everything else. Some of its suggestions will be good. Some will mean spending more with Google. The help page says you keep "full creative control," and you should use it.
An AI that knows your profile, your ads and your videos is a good assistant. It is a bad boss.
The tests point the same way: reports with recommendations built in, and new ways to prove you are the real business. We wrote earlier this month about why your Business Profile now matters more than your homepage. This is more of that.
One more thing from the fine print: the beta is limited to fewer than 10 locations under one business. Larger groups are not in it yet.

What to do this week
You cannot sign up for Business Home, so this week is about being ready for it.
- Check your profile is verified and correct
The beta requires a verified Business Profile. Open yours and check hours, address, phone, services and categories. Wrong information is the first thing an AI will repeat.
- Know who owns each account
Write down who has access to your Business Profile, Google Ads, Merchant Center and YouTube. Business Home links one of each, and changing them needs the right permissions on every tool.
- Decide your rule for AI suggestions now
Before any invitation arrives, agree on one rule: a person reads every AI post, offer and reply before it goes out, and nobody accepts a suggestion that adds ad spend without checking it against your own numbers.
- Treat the tests as tests
If you see new performance reports or a government ID option, note them, but do not rebuild anything around a feature Google has not announced.
